More information about due date calculation
To calculate a pregnancy due date, you can use the first day of the previous menstrual period (LMP) of the woman. Use the following way to calculate the due date based on the LMP:
Steps:
- Identify LMP (the first day of your last menstrual period).
- Then 7 will be added to the first day of your LMP.
- Count three months back.
This method is used when you have a 28-day menstrual cycle with ovulation occurring around the 14th day. The average pregnancy period is about 40 weeks (or 280 days).
Consider the following example:
LMP: May 1, 2024
Add 7 days: May 8, 2024
Subtract 3 months: February 8, 2025
The due date would be February 8, 2025.
If you know the date of conception, you can be calculate the due date by adding 266 days (38 weeks) from that date.
When to take the Pregnancy Test?
Generally, one missed cycle may be considered as a sign of pregnancy. So wait for one missed cycle before taking the Pregnancy Test.
